Ferrantee D. Alexis, arrested on rape charges
FR: SHERIFF MIKE WAGUESPACK, ASSUMPTION PARISH
RE: PLATTEVILLE MAN ARRESTED FOR SIMPLE RAPE
NAPOLEONVILLE – Late Thursday evening on January 26, 2012, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a sexual assault of an adult female from Napoleonville. She stated that her son’s barber arrived at her residence after calling her and began knocking at the door. She answered the door asking him what he needed and he began to push his way through the door. He then forced her into the back bedroom where he allegedly raped her. She stated she told him several times “to stop and get off of her”. He eventually quit after slapping her. The victim then immediately called 911 and deputies responded to the scene. She was taken to Assumption Community Hospital where she was treated and released. A Detective later interviewed Ferrantee D. Alexis, age 34, of 212 Pierre Street, Plattenville, Louisiana who stated he did have sex with the victim but said it was consensual.
Upon concluding the initial investigation, Alexis was booked on a Judicial Arrest Warrant on Friday, January 27, 2012 and charged with one count of Simple Rape. His Bond was set at $50,000 and has since posted bond.

Saving the retirement system
Governor Bobby Jindal says that "The retirement system that's supposed to pay for the pensions of Louisiana public employees is in serious fiscal trouble – and addressing that crisis now is the only way to be fair to both public employees and to taxpayers who foot the bill…
The governor wants to put the system on a more secure financial footing…
Louisianians will need to consider the details of the governor's proposals. But Gov. Jindal is right to launch the necessary and urgent public discussion on a retirement program that, as he said, is on an 'unsustainable and irresponsible' fiscal path.
Among his most substantial proposals, the governor wants to place new hires in a defined-contribution plan similar to the 401(k) plans that exist mostly in the private sector…
The governor also is seeking to require higher retirement contributions from some current state employees.
These are fair proposals. Most taxpayers have seen their retirement benefits diminished, and they should not be saddled with the system's $18.5 billion unfunded obligations…
Editor's Note: If Governor Bobby Jindal is so worried about the retirement system and the unfunded obligations, that have destroyed the retirement system he should help fund the unfunded obligations that school systems commonly call unfunded mandates. The reitrement system is not the only thing that the mandates have destroyed. Schools , for the last decade or more, have had programs shoved down their throat by both Federal and State Governments saying , schools must do this, but neither the Federal or State Governments have cared enough to provide funding for the mandates.
As Gov. Jindal said, failure to enact reforms now will force 'unacceptable options,' including breaking the state's promise to workers, saddling future generations with higher taxes or making draconian cuts in services.
That's why reforming the retirement system now is not an option, it's the only responsible thing to do."

Former Presidential Candidate Herman Cain Endorses Presidential Candidate Newt Gingricht
I guess it's true what they say about Birds of a feather flocking together. A cheater and a liar, a man who admitted on National television that he was having an affair and hid the facts from his wife has enforsed Newt Gingricht.
What I don't get is, if he wasn't good enough to run for president because he was a cheat, then why in the world is his endorsement any good?

TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE
January 27, 2012
Motorcycle Passenger Killed in East Feliciana Crash
Clinton – Louisiana State Police Troop A is currently investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle that claimed the life of a Baton Rouge woman. The crash occurred on LA 10 west of LA 955 in East Feliciana Parish shortly after 2:00 pm this afternoon.
Troopers’ preliminary investigation revealed that Hubert Millet (W/M, age 74) of Slaughter was driving a 2003 Ford passenger car when he pulled out from a private drive attempting to turn left onto LA 10 into the path of a 2010 Harley Davidson, being operated by Bernard Schweitzer (W/M, age 51) of Dodge, ND. The motorcycle struck the left side of the vehicle and Schweitzer and his passenger were both thrown from the motorcycle. Schweitzer sustained serious injuries and was transported to a Baton Rouge hospital. His passenger, Debra Benoit (W/F, age 48) of Baton Rouge, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. She was pronounced deceased on the scene by the East Feliciana Coroner’s Office. Millet and his passenger, Ruby Millet (W/F, age 67) of Slaughter, were both uninjured in the crash.
Troopers do not suspect alcohol to have been a factor in this crash. However, a sample of Schweitzer’s blood will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. No charges have been filed at this time, and the crash remains under investigation.
Troopers remind motorists to be alert at all times while behind the wheel of a vehicle. Distractions, such as cell phones, radios, and other passengers often lead to crashes on our highways. Instances of crashes are reduced greatly when these distractions are not present. Drivers are strongly urged to concentrate their full focus on the task of driving at all times while behind the wheel.

LSP Investigations result in Arrests across Southeast Louisiana
Troopers assigned to the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations brought several separate criminal cases to conclusion this past week resulting in arrests across numerous parishes.
On January 25th, 2012, LSP detectives arrested Qasim Raouf (O/M age 23) following an investigation into access device fraud. During the course of the investigation, detectives discovered that Raouf had defrauded a Whitney bank customer of approximately $2000 and had 8 active warrants for separate instances of access device fraud and traffic violations in both Jefferson and Orleans Parishes.
On January 26, 2012, State Police Investigators assigned to the Criminal Investigative Division Baton Rouge Field Office arrested Joseph Fitzgerald (W/M age 60) for failure to register as a sex offender in Iberville Parish. During the investigation, it was discovered that Fitzgerald was living in Plaquemine and had failed to register when he moved there. Fitzgerald had been convicted of 1st Degree Rape in Alabama in 1993. This charge is the equivalent of Forcible Rape in Louisiana, which requires a lifetime registration. He was required by Louisiana law to register with the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office, which he never did. State Police Investigators, with the assistance of the United State Marshals Service, located Fitzgerald at his place of employment in Sunshine, LA and placed him under arrest. He was then booked into the Iberville Parish Jail.
Following an investigation into a complaint made by Progressive Insurance Company, Troopers arrested William White Jr (B/M age 27) of Hammond, LA, on one count of Insurance Fraud. The investigation revealed that in June of 2010, White filed a property damage claim on his vehicle with Progressive Insurance following an alleged hit and run crash that occurred in a retail store parking lot. The claim was denied due to a lapse in coverage; however, prior to denial, Progressive assigned an adjuster to inspect and photograph the vehicle damage. In October of 2010, White initiated a new policy with Progressive and shortly thereafter reported being the victim of another hit and run crash filing a property damage claim on the same vehicle. The damaged area on the vehicle was the same for both claims and photographs from the initial claim showed the damage to be identical. The investigation concluded White attempted to defraud Progressive by misrepresenting the facts of the loss. On January 26th, 2012, White turned himself in to LSP detectives and was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
Anyone wishing to report criminal or suspicious activity to the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations is urged to contact detectives at 225-925-3682.
The Louisiana State Police on-line reporting system is also available to the public through a convenient and secure reporting form that is submitted to the appropriate investigators. Citizens can access the form by visiting www.lsp.org and clicking the Suspicious Activity link.
